The Freiburg Theatre

The Freiburg Theater includes musical theater, drama, concerts, dance, and youth theater. On four stages in the building, around 370 employees develop and perform their own productions, co-productions, and guest performances. Each season, a diverse cultural program develops around the stages.

Internationally, the Freiburg Theater enjoys a reputation as one of the leading multi-disciplinary theaters in the German-speaking world. When the current director, Peter Carp, took over in 2017, he declared the city’s theaters to be a”world receiver” and increased his support of directing talents from abroad, most of whom are still unknown in the German-speaking world. The Freiburg Theater therefore sees itself as a place of artistic variety and diversity.

Getting there

Leave the Schusterstraße building to the right (leave the Münsterplatz building to the left, at the end of Münsterplatz turn left again into Eisenstraße, then right into Schusterstraße), turn left at Kaiser-Joseph-Straße, turn right at Bertoldsbrunnen into Bertoldstraße and follow this until you reach the Freiburg Theater (approx. 5 minutes walk in total).
