Accessible by train, car, taxi and bicycle
Our house is located in the heart of the historic old town. Although located in the busy pedestrian zone it is accessible for hotel guests by car and, of course, can also be reached by taxi and bicycle, of course.
Arrival by train
From Freiburg main station you can reach us in about 10 minutes on foot through the old town:
- Leave the train station through the main entrance, cross the street and go straight into «Eisenbahnstrasse»
- Then follow this straight ahead into «Rathausgasse» and further straight ahead into «Schusterstrasse» – you will find our hotel reception at Schusterstrasse 11 on the left-hand side.
Arrival by bicycle
With the bicycle you can use the pedestrian zone of Freiburg with the exception of the «Kaiser-Joseph-Straße» and the small alleys; The easiest way to reach our house is via the «Schwabentor», then turn right into «Herrenstraße» and left into «Schusterstraße».
Single Bicycles can be parked free of charge in our hotel garage at Schusterstraße 11; the garage is locked outside reception opening hours.
Arrival by car
Please note that access by car is difficult until 3 p.m., except on Sundays, due to the hustle and bustle of the market. Should you use a GPS navigation system, please enter the street «Auf der Zinnen» as destination and then follow our directions. After entering the pedestrian zone, many systems cannot identify the inner city streets of Freiburg and misdirect you.
Parking
If you arrive by car, we can reserve a parking space for you in our in-house garage on request. As we only have a limited number of parking spaces, a reservation is necessary.
Our in-house garage is subject to a charge.
If our garage is fully booked, we recommend the closest two public parking garages with special rates for hotel guests: «Karlsbaugarage» (P13) and «Schlossberggarage» (P 15).
In any case, you are of course welcome to drive up to us to unload your luggage.
How to get to the hotel garage:
From the motorway:
- Leave the motorway at the exit «Freiburg Mitte» – direction «Stadtmitte»
- Follow the signs for the «Altstadt» (old town). At the third junction these will tell you to turn left across the «Schwabentor» Bridge and onto the «Schlossbergring» town ring road.
- Follow the «Schlossbergring» until after the curve (approx. 0.8 km)
- Until you see a pedestrian bridge, which runs diagonally across junction. Turn left here («Auf der Zinnen») and after 150 m turn left into «Conrad-Gröber-Straße»
From here pedestrian zone, passable for guests:
- Through the department store arcade KARSTADT
- Straight ahead across «Münsterplatz» (main entrance to Münster on the left-hand side, department store Breuninger on the right-hand side)
Direction GALERIA KAUFHOF · Before GALERIA KAUFHOF turn left into «Schusterstrasse» - Our hotel with the garage is 80 m on the left-hand side at Schusterstraße 11
Coming from the Black Forest:
Follow the direction «Stadtmitte» until you reach the «Schwabentor» bridge. Then follow signs for the «Altstadt» (old town) (turning right) Get into the left lane going straight ahead.
To the restaurant from the Schwabentor:
- Follow the green hotel signs through the «Schwabentor»
From here pedestrian zone, passable for guests:
- After the «Schwabentor», turn right at the first fork into «Herrenstraße», follow the green «Oberkirch» sign
- Take the second street on the left to the Münster
- Keep to the left of the Münster (south side of the Münsterplatz)
- Our house is on your left next to the Historic Merchants’ Hall
To the hotel garage from the Schwabentor:
- Follow the «Schlossbergring» until after the curve (approx. 0.8 km)
- Until you see a pedestrian bridge, which runs diagonally across junction. Turn left here («Auf der Zinnen») and after 150 m turn left into «Conrad-Gröber-Straße»
From here pedestrian zone, passable for guests:
- Through the department store arcade KARSTADT

Direction GALERIA KAUFHOF - Before GALERIA KAUFHOF turn left into «Schusterstrasse»
- Our hotel with the garage is after 80 m on the left-hand side at Schusterstraße 11
Parking in the «Schlossberggarage» is recommended for a one-night stay (as of March 2022):
Please deactivate the license plate recognition for the EasyPark app before entering, otherwise you will be charged via the app and will not be able to park at the hotel rate.

The car park ticket office is open from Monday to Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Tariffs for more than 24 hours apply when entering on the right side (not KARSTADT) and if the ticket is paid for the entire stay at the car park cash desk before the first exit, then you will receive a permanent entry and exit ticket.
