For over 275 years, Freiburg residents and guests from near and far have felt equally at home in the traditional Oberkirch. Our current creative kitchen crew and our attentive service do everything they can every day to inspire you anew.
In the rooms of the «Weinstube» you will experience cosy comfort between the tiled stove and the wood paneling.
In the summer months, you can enjoy refreshing conviviality and colourful market activity up close directly on the Münsterplatz terrace.
Exquisite culinary delights await you when you take a seat with us in Oberkirch. We offer you various regional delicacies of the respective season – from fine asparagus dishes to fresh summer vegetables to mushroom and game specialties.
In our wine list you will find carefully selected wines from Baden. Sip a Baden quarter liter or try one of our fine bottled wines – a hand-picked selection awaits you.
On the first floor we have our «dining hall» for celebrations with up to 40 guests, up to 15 guests can be accommodated in our «lounge» and small groups of up to eight people are often enthusiastic fans of our «snuggery»
We would also be happy to welcome you on the ground floor – even spontaneously, of course, although we recommend reserving a table in advance.

Münsterplatz terrace
Around 60 seats are available on our Münsterplatz terrace in the warmer months. Experience «Freiburg up close» in the mornings directly at the colorful market in front of the house.
Be it for breakfast (also bookable for external guests Monday to Saturday), lunch, coffee and cake or – in the warmest months – dinner, our terrace is always an inviting place to linger.
We thank you for your understanding that for organisational reasons we do not accept reservations for the outdoor area.
Our «Dining Hall»
For groups of up to 40 guests, we offer a wonderful setting for your celebration, company dinner or seminar in our «dining hall» on the upper floor. With its wood-paneled walls, it offers a warm atmosphere, and from the windows you can let your gaze wander over the Münsterplatz with all its hustle and bustle.
Our «Lounge»
Our «lounge» («Wohnzimmer») on the upper floor of our restaurant was actually once the living room of the Oberkirch family – today it is available for celebrations and meals of a private or business nature. With its historic parquet floor and its unique views of the Freiburg Minster and the colorful «tower» of the Historical Merchants’ Hall, it offers an exclusive ambience. With its bright, friendly design and its convivial atmosphere at the large oval table, it is very popular – so contact us in good time to make your reservation!
Our «Snuggery»
Cosy and rustic – our «snuggery» («Jägerstüble») is our smallest separate room. With its dark wood paneling, it offers a warm ambience on cold days – or a cool-looking retreat when the summer sun is too glistening outside. Very popular for smaller regulars’ tables or celebrations in the closest circle, up to 8 people can be seated here at the large square table. Here you have the opportunity to celebrate undisturbed by the hustle and bustle of the restaurant – or to hold meetings

Of course, you are also welcome to visit our restaurant as a spontaneous guest, but a reservation is strongly recommended – especially on weekends – so that you can be sure to enjoy our great cuisine in the unique ambience of our wood-paneled ground floor – with a view of the market and the cathedral from the window.
